Choose document fonts and text size
Document settings let you choose separate heading and body typefaces and set the text size. These choices belong to the current document, so two documents can have different writing presentations.
Changing the font does not turn a paragraph into a heading. Use Heading 1 through Heading 6 when you need document structure.
Adjust spacing and line width
Line spacing, paragraph spacing and line width change how the document feels on screen. Narrower lines can make long passages easier to read, while extra paragraph space can separate dense sections.
These controls affect the writing view. They are not the same as printed page margins.
Turn hyphenation on or off
Hyphenation can help create more even line endings in some languages and typefaces. Turn it off if you prefer words to remain whole at line breaks.
The final PDF can break lines differently from the editor, so use PDF preview when exact published line endings matter.
Choose the app theme and accent colour
Choose Light, Dark or System for the Compose interface. System follows the appearance preference of the device or browser. Accent colour changes the interface highlight colour.
Theme and accent are app preferences. They do not become document content or change the words you export.
Set sidebar position and language
Where the layout allows it, place the side panel on the left or right. The language setting applies to Compose as a whole, not just one document.
Compact screens may arrange controls differently, so do not expect every panel to occupy the same position as it does on a desktop screen.
Show editor aids only when they help
Invisible characters can reveal spaces and other hidden structure when you are checking formatting. Review highlights can be shown while working through feedback and hidden when you want a cleaner reading view.
These aids are part of the editing interface. They do not appear as ordinary content in a clean export.
Editor appearance and PDF design are separate
PDF export has its own font and layout settings. You can copy the editor typography as a starting point, but later editor changes do not update an existing PDF setup automatically.
This lets you make the editor comfortable to write in while setting the finished PDF up for its readers.
